State or Territory Nominated Skilled Worker Permanent Residence Visas - subclass 190
This visa is for points-tested skilled workers who are nominated by a state or territory government agency. Each different state or territory in Australia can nominate occupations that are a high priority for that particular state or territory, and can be drawn from the Consolidated Skills Occupation List (CSOL), not just the Skilled Occupation List (SOL).
Each state or territory has different requirements to receive their sponsorship for a visa application, but typically they require the visa applicant to certify that they will reside in that particular state or territory for two years. In some cases they will require that you have a job offer or a contract of employment before they will sponsor you. State or territory sponsorship earns an applicant an additional 5 points towards achieving the minimum 65 points required (the other visa requirements are similar to the subclass 189 visa).
This visa allows you to live and work in Australia as a permanent resident and whilst it may restrict you to living in part of Australia for two years, it does not require you to commit to a particular employer.
Both visa classes 189 & 190 are highly desirable for migrants and are typically processed very quickly by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.
This is a general overview of subclass 189 & subclass 190. We encourage you to make an appointment with Putt Legal to discuss your particular circumstances.
