The Australian government has announced today that it will REDUCE the visa application charge (VAC) for the subclass 417 working holiday visa as from 1 January 2017.
The new VAC will be $390.
More importantly, the Government also announced that the proposed increase to working holiday makers' tax rates would NOT go ahead.
The tax rate on earnings up to $37,000 will remain at 19%. The marginal rates will apply to earnings above that amount.
Putt Legal is pleased to see that common sense has prevailed and the value of working holiday makers to Australia has been properly recognised.
